The C.A.F.E gave a platform for Eastbourne pupils to express their talents using a wide variety of creative methods. By using talent locally, part of the festival’s success was the collaborative spirit of young people coming together, and sharing their work with the community around them. Uplifting performances included drama and music from The Eastbourne Academy, St Catherine’s College and The Causeway School, and an inspiring dance piece from The Cavendish School. Individual artists from Eastbourne College and East Sussex Colleges also performed from the Birley Centre’s Jennifer Winn auditorium.
Alongside the performance art, was a gallery of textiles, ceramics, photography, and wall art covering a wide range of topics from Brexit to currant environmental issues.
Special thanks must go to East Sussex College’s art department for curating the exhibition, Eastbourne College for hosting the event at the Birley Centre and Mark Dimmock for his stunning photography, which can be found in our gallery.
